28th October Paris

 ** Good morning Paris. Today I am off to see your jewel in the crown - I am going to the Louvre. Mel decided not to go as she has seen the Mona Lisa on previous trips and as today is Marie's birthday, Mel decided to spend the day with her helping out with Emmett. 

** And, just btw, happy birthday to Marie, and many, many more.

*" So I am sitting outside Cafe Palace Royal having my Americano & coissant for breakfast. And the price of the coffee nearly blew me away - €6.10. however still cheaper than some coffees I bought in Copenhagen.

** I must say that I have been so impressed by the way Paris has cleaned up and revamped it's Metro. Our first visit in 2009  the Metro system was an experience we would rather not have experienced. In almost all instances the stations were dark, dismal, filthy, we had to step over multiple people sleeping along the dark passage ways. Theb beggers not only were all around the stations but we're on the trains as well, hasseling each and every passenger.

** This trip I have been overwhelmed with the changes I see. Stations are bright, clean, welcoming, a total lack of people sleeping in the passage ways, no-one begging on the trains, comfortable seats in the stations for waiting passengers in the stations,  and overall a very pleasant experience.

** Images from my visit. Almost all of these artrfacts are from the period known as the Bronze Age which covers the period 4000 bce to about 1175 bce. A few of the artefacts actually date back to 6000 bce (the copper or Chalcolithic Age)
