13th October Bruxelles

** Woke with the sun this morning. Needed to cancel a booking in Lille for Mel & I and then rebook closer to the main station. I have found an Ibis very close to the station, so cancelled the other accommodation which seemed really nice, and have booked this Ibis. At least with the Ibis, it's basic but you know what you are getting. And for €100 for the night for the two of us, it is not going to break the bank.

What will be so weird is sharing a room, a bed, & a bathroom with someone else after travelling solo for over 3 months.

** I will need to rise at 6:30am as the trains times for tomorrow run at less frequent times. I want to do 2 or 3 museums across the day before Mel gets to the hotel.

** Today is my last full day in Bruxelles. I intend to wander and see what I have not already seen. The buildings are quite different to those on the sea border running down from Amsterdam. Although no architect, I can see the differences and similarities in the basic styling of the buildings. I do not understand the purpose of why buildings in Bruxelles are still reminiscent of the buildings in the north of the Netherlands as there is little water here and almost no canals that I can see but maybe the similarities are historical in that who the old king's were and how they influenced the building styles

** Did a slow walk aroundb today. A few of the images might look familiar but hopefully from different angles.
