19th October Bruges for the day

 ** Today our amazing hosts drove use from Essars to  the city of Brugges in Belgium, via Lille. It was great seeing the countryside and Bruge has certainly lived up to its reputation as a chocolate box town, sort of a Prague, but in the west. The town was overflowing with tourists, and from the overall sounds of the languages being spoken, most tourists appeared to be northern Europeans, with a smattering of American accents piping up here ,& there.

** Bruge has appeared in a number of movies over the years, with the latest being "The Monument Men".  Well worth watching.

** By the way. We have discovered that the name Bruge has at least four spelling variations; Bruge, Bruges, Brugge, and Brugges. Take your pick.
