6th September Dresden

** My only full day in Dresden.

** Off to see the Old Masters Museum in the old but totally rebuilt middle section of the city abutting the River Elba. The 10 day weather is indicating a storm today and rain the rest of the week. So have stuffed the fold up umbrella into my day pack, had coffee & aupan de Chocolat at the local Starbucks and off I go, retracing my steps from yesterday afternoon.

** A few images from my walk around today.

They appear to be doing a major upgrade to the grounds. My luck it is a total mess (and of course it is being done just to spite me LoL)

August II, in the very early 18th century, enjoyed oranges but his trees did not do well in winter so he had built an early version of a greenhouse.

** For some reason I went to look for the Schul. One could pass it and not even realise. The grounds lady & her husband tell me that the current population is about 800 and all from the old USSR.
** See the following link for a very brief history of the Jews of Dresden. https://www.dresden.de/en/05/036/The-historical-Synagogue.php6

** Alte Meissner Museum

The collect at the old master's museum has got be be one of the most extensive I have seen to date. By far outdoes the Prado and most other museums in Spain and Berlin etc. Keep an eye open for titan, Rembrandt, Rubins, Valasquez etc. The building is separated into art and into sculpture.
