10th September Prague to Munich

** Well it's time to say 'Sbohem Praha' (Goodbye Prague). It has been really interesting.

Your spires, your history, your winding streets and your winding river. Without you even knowing it, you became the possible start of religious reformation in Europe. Your willingness over the past 1000 years to try and be accepting of others, who were not like you & who could not find a home anywhere. Your Jewish legend of the anthropomorphic ptotector created of dirt, dust and a word.

** A note about use of toilets in Europe. Most public toilets, at least in the western part, are pay as you go, with easy PayPass acceptance. However as one transverse from West to East, acceptance of even normal credit cards becomes an issue. As an example, the bus station in Prague is controlled by a person who I would not wish to bump into on a dark night in a dark alley. I was in dire need for a pit stop but no pay pass, no cards accepted, and the only way to 'open sesame' was to pay 20 CK or 1 Euro ( which by the way is 25% more than payment than those using the Czech Crown.). Only problem is that I had got rid of my Czech shrapnel and did not have any Euros that I was aware of. Luck or whatever, I found €1 coin deep in the jacket pocket. Problem solved but not happy having been put in that situation.

After the hiccup with my ticket (see the life throws you lemons page) I got on the bus with 5 minutes to spare.

** On the road to Munich

** Just arrived in Munich. Running a bit late but time is one thing I have on my side. This will be my last stop in Germany.

My first view of the city. No idea what I am looking at, but it's interesting.

**I have finally located my hotel. Very similar in layout to other rooms I have stayed in on this trip. There is a vertical fan running so I assume very warm night tonight and the next three nights. But I have an ensuite that actually has a fan. I have yet to test it but ogf all the rooms in Spain, Denmark, Germany & Czechia, this is the first to have an extra tion fan.

** The hotel was about a 30 minute walk from the bus station. However I am told by the desk manager that I am 5 minutes walk to the edge of the original town centre, which sounds like something I would have booked. Btw, I booked most of my accommodation back between March and April. When I have looked up the bcurrent room prices, in most instances the prices are between 25% & 35% higher now. So a win for me.

** My first walk through the old city centre. I stopped at a restaurant named Sltes Hackrthaus that claims to be in business , one way or another, since possibly 1417. I normally order a small beer that averages out to 300ml but when I ordered a small beer here I got one hell of a small glass, 200ml.  🤓

** Images from my first walk around

A statue of Juliet (a la Romeo & Juliet). It apparently has become very popular statue with mainly men. You will notice the right breast is a different colour to the rest of the bronze. I watched at least one man a minute come up and rub her right boob and get their photo taken by a mate.
