Cambridge University, England

Off to Cambridge today. Just remember museums for me is akin to Disneyland for most other travellers. Cambridge University is the third-oldest university in continuous operation in the world. My accommodation in Cambridge (1 night) Lensfield Hotel ,  53-57 Lensfield Road, Cambridge The room is of course rather small, think of the size of our ensuite at home. It is however very clean, tidy & presentable. Only thing I would ping them on is there are no USB plug charge points. Also no wall handle to get out of the shower with - necessary for those not 100% steady on their feet. Small thing but can make the difference. Vast difference between my room in Oxford & this one, even though the cost per night was near the same. Look hard in the mirror and I'm there  smiling back. The photo of the stairs is simple because they tell every one to watch their heads even when I asked them if they had noticed how short I was. Timesofisrael.comC Cairo Geniza collection at the Cambridge University Library   I was asked by a friend to go to the Cambridge University Library and see the Cairo Geniza manuscripts. Having walked for what seemed an eternity I discovered that unfortunately one needs to apply well in advance for access as the documents have to be pulled out of the archives. I won't be able to see them this trip. What are they? According to Wikipedia they are a collection of some 400,000 Jewish manuscript fragments and Fatimid administrative documents that were kept in the genizah or storeroom of the Ben Ezra Synagogue in Fustat or Old Cairo, Egypt. These manuscripts span the entire period of Middle-Eastern, North African, and Andalusian Jewish history between the 6th and 19th centuries CE, and comprise the largest and most diverse collection of mediaeval manuscripts in the world.
